They secure well and keep the canopy protected in the winter. I’ve found that it’s better to get a sandbag that isn’t too expensive because even the expensive ones don’t last many seasons. With that in mind this is a decent option.

Those weight bags are durable
This set of weight bags does a really good job at a really reasonable price. Instead of filling up with sand I filled that one with "pea gravel". The reason behind it when it rains sand get heavier and look like rock bunches.Bags stand about a foot high, making them more conspicuous, which I thought would make them less of a trip hazard than a low to the ground design. These work great. I loaded mine with river rocks, made them heavy for sure. Only 3/4 full.
